The major risks associated with range livestock production fall into climatic, biological, financial, political, and other categories. Some specific risks are drought, severe winter, disease in livestock, increasing livestock production costs, rising taxes, and unplanned fire.

Answer to Question 2

About one-third to one-half less fossil fuel energy is required to produce a pound of beef on rangeland compared to with harvested forage and grain.
