Answer to Question 1

ANS:
Auscultate at approximately 3 inches to the left of adult sternum at the fourth, fifth, or sixth intercostal spaces in the midclavicular line.
Apical pulse is heard at the apex of the heart. The position of the apex of the heart is different for a child than an adult.
