Legg-Calv-Perthes disease is necrosis of the head of the femur. Common symptoms include hip and knee soreness or stiffness, a painful limp, and quadricep muscle atrophy. Traction, bracing, and surgery are required treatments. The nurse must demonstrate to the client how to wear the brace and assess the skin daily.
