Answer to Question 1

C
Hypoplastic (aplastic) anemia occurs when the bone marrow decreases or stops functioning; although there is no known primary cause, secondary aplastic anemia can be caused by a variety of toxic agents, viruses, or medications such as chloramphenicol.

Answer to Question 2

B
To set the flow rate for a client's IV infusion: prepare to set the flow rate (have paper and pencil ready to calculate, review calibration in drops/mL of each infusion set) and determine hourly rate by dividing total volume by total hours to be infused. Multiply the hourly infusion rate by the drop factor, and divide by the infusion time in minutes. 3,000 mL/24 hours = 125 mL/hr x 15/60 min = 31 drops/min
