Answer to Question 1

B
Pulse assessment is the measurement of a pressure pulsation created when the heart contracts and ejects blood into the aorta.

Answer to Question 2

C
Feedback:
In order to open the airway and facilitate the insertion of the artificial airway in the client, the nurse should place the client in the supine position with the neck hyperextended, unless this is contraindicated for the client. Performing oral suctioning clears the saliva from the mouth and prevents aspiration. The nurse should open the client's mouth using a gloved finger and thumb or a tongue blade to prevent injury to the teeth during insertion. Holding the airway so that the curved tip faces upward towards the roof of the mouth is done in order to prevent pushing the tongue into the pharynx during insertion.
