Answer to Question 1

D
The differential count shows the percentages of types of white blood cells (WBCs) in 1 mm3 of blood. Normal ranges include segs 50 to 65, bands 0 to 5. An increase in these could indicate a possible bacterial infection.

Answer to Question 2

C
Feedback:
The client's signs and symptoms are characteristic of an allergic reaction, which should prompt the nurse to slow the rate and possibly administer an antihistamine. It would be inappropriate to increase the rate of infusion or to administer an antiemetic. It is not normally necessary to stop the infusion.
