A nurse should always refer to the state nurse practice act for legalities regarding scope of practice within specific states. This nurse should be directed to this document.
The manager may not be a good source of information on this legal issue, especially if the manager is used to practicing in this fashion.
Other nurses working at the same facility may not be good sources of information about this legal topic.
Professional organizational websites would not have information regarding scope of practice in a specific state, unless of course the website searched was the state board of nursing website for that particular state.
