Rationale: MRI is the best test for diagnosing soft tissue injuries such as those involving muscles. X-rays are not highly diagnostic for soft tissue damage, and are better suited for examining bones. Myelograms are done to diagnose herniated disks. Arthroscopies examine the inside of a joint.
