Creating a safe environment is important to reduce risk of injury. Placing objects on the patient's affected side and approaching the patient from the affected side cause the patient to be aware of the affected side and to learn to adapt and incorporate the affected part of the body. If the patient does not acknowledge the affected side, it will become neglected, and risk of injury will increase.
