Answer to Question 1

ANS: A
Epoetin alfa is contraindicated for use in patients with hypersensitivity to albumin or mammalian cell-derived products, or in those with uncontrolled hypertension.

Answer to Question 2

ANS: B
Because deferoxamine is a naturally occurring iron siderophore (a molecule facilitating iron up-take), it acts as a growth factor for Yersinia and Rhizopus. In susceptible individuals, deferox-amine increases the proliferation and virulence of these organisms, resulting in severe, often fatal, infection.
