How can the nurse prevent injury from a needlestick?
 
  1. Recap the needle before disposal.
  2. Remove the needle from the syringe.
  3. Immediately discard the needle and syringe in a puncture-proof container.
  4. Stick it into the patient's mattress until it can be disposed of.
