Answer to Question 1

D
Nystatin is used to treat candidal infection of the skin, mouth, esophagus, and vagina.
Miconazole (indicated for cutaneous and vaginal candidiasis) and itraconazole are not indicated for the treatment of candidal infections. Oral candidiasis is treated with topical agents, such as nystatin, clotrimazole, and amphotericin B. In an immunocompromised host, oral therapy with fluconazole or ketoconazole usually is required.
Fluconazole is recommended for use in immunocompromised patients, and nothing indicates that the patient is immunocompromised.

Answer to Question 2

A
The clinical manifestation the nurse should expect to see is hemorrhage.
Water intoxication is associated with oxytocin administration, but the scenario does not state that the patient was receiving oxytocin.
Ergot alkaloids are not recommended for use during labor.
Ergonovine actually can cause hypertension.
