Answer to Question 1

A
Feedback:
Fluvoxamine is indicated for the treatment of OCD and is classified as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). SSRIs are indicated for the treatment of depression, OCD, panic attacks, bulimia, premenstrual dysphoria disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, social phobias, and social anxiety disorders. Phenelzine is indicated for depression not responsive to other agents. Desipramine and amitriptyline are tricyclic antidepressants indicated for treatment of depression especially if accompanied by anxiety or sleep disturbances.

Answer to Question 2

A
Feedback:
The nurse needs to learn local policies and procedures for controlled substance administration because they can vary with some local governments more rigorous than others. Nurses do not memorize a provider's DEA numbers. The DEA is a federal agency that monitors controlled substances in all states. State boards of nursing do not regulate controlled substances but may regulate how controlled substances are administered by nurses.
