Answer to Question 1

C
C. Closed system or in-line suction catheter is connected to the artificial airway.
A. Reassess cardiopulmonary status, including pulse oximetry, to determine need for subsequent suctioning or complications.
B. Repeat one to two more times to clear secretions. Allow adequate time (at least 1 full minute) between suction passes for ventilation and reoxygenation.
D. Hyperinflate and/or hyperoxygenate client with bag-valve-mask or manual breathing mechanism on mechanical ventilator according to institution protocol and clinical status (usually 100 oxygen).

Answer to Question 2

B
B. Suctioning should require no more than 5 seconds.
A. Because of small diameter of suction catheter, thick secretions may be more difficult to remove.
C. Distance suctioned should not be greater than 0.5 cm beyond the tip of the artificial airway.
D. Small-diameter suction catheters required in pediatrics should be one-half the diameter of the child's tracheostomy tube.

People who have myopia, or nearsightedness, are not able to see objects at a distance but only up close. It occurs when the cornea is either curved too steeply, the eye is too long, or both. This condition is progressive and worsens with time. More than 100 million people in the United States are nearsighted, but only 20% of those are born with the condition. Diet, eye exercise, drug therapy, and corrective lenses can all help manage nearsightedness.
