Answer to Question 1

C
A fresh specimen should be used because stagnant urine that has been in the bladder for several hours will not accurately reflect the serum glucose level at the time of testing. Ask the patient to collect a random urine specimen and discard, drink a glass of water, and collect another specimen 30 to 45 minutes later.

Answer to Question 2

D. Fill syringe with measured amount of formula. Release tube, and elevate syringe to no more than 18 inches (45 cm) above insertion site and allow it to empty gradually by gravity.

B. Place client in high-Fowler's position, or elevate head of bed at least 30 degrees to prevent aspiration.
C. Allow bag to empty gradually over 30 to 60 minutes.
