EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING: 1) ALLOWS RESEARCHERS TO RULE OUT CHANCE FOR THE COMBINED RESULTS, WHEN THEY COULD NOT DO SO FOR THE INDIVIDUAL STUDIES; 2) ALLOWS RESEARCHERS TO GET A MUCH MORE PRECISE ESTIMATE OF A RELATIONSHIP THAN THEY CAN WITH INDIVIDUAL SMALL STUDIES.
