Answer to Question 1

ANSWER: the orchestra plays the first exposition (all in the tonic key) and the soloist plays the second exposition; there is
no direct repetition as in traditional sonata-allegro form

Answer to Question 2

ANSWER: The easier sonatas provided students with material to develop technique while the more difficult ones were
showpieces for the composers themselves so they could impress their audience in the homes of wealthy
patrons.
