 relatively simple symmetrical structures and overall form
 tends to rhythmically organize music into even pulses in repeating groups of two or three beats
 tends towards melodic pairs and music is mostly based on a major or minor scale and their related harmonies
 harmony and harmonic rhythm is a unique feature of European music
