Remember that ostinato refers to a constantly repeating pattern. As you listen to Lambango do you hear mostly kumengo or birimintingo?

What musical accompaniment is played on the kora during the (sung) text parts? What type of music is played on the kora during the interludes between vocal solos?

 Mostly kumengo (a continually repeated pattern)

Answer to Question 2

 When the emphasis is on the text, the kora player accompanies the singer with kumbengo, an instrumental ostinato . . . This part establishes the tonal and metric framework of a piece.
 Virtuosic instrumental passages (birimintingo) provide interludes between vocal sections.
