Rhythmically freer songs with longer texts make up the adzo section. Diagram the three sections of the song. What happens at 3:39? Since only the opening B returns at the end you can classify the overall form as ______________ (see comment for Agbekor Song 3 above).

  What will be an ideal response?

Question 2

Diagram the forms of these three songs. (Use a : : for repeating sections and classify their overall forms as either a three-part ternary form (a return to the beginning at the end, as in A B A) or a two-part binary form (no return to opening material at the end, as in A B). Indicate the approximate pitches in scale order on which each song is based.

Answer to Question 1

 (3:023:39) Section I : A B :
 Section II C1 D C2 D
 Section III E B
 (3:394:20) After a brief drum sound at 3:39 the entire song repeats.
  Rounded binary form

Answer to Question 2

 Agbekor Song 1 : A1 A2 : B B A2 = A B A, ternary. Scale: E F F G B C (1 b2 2 b3 5 b6)
 Agbekor Song 2 : A1 B1 A2 B2 : = A B, binary. Scale: E G A B D (E) (song has 5 pitches with no  steps)
 Agbekor Song 3 : A1 A2 :: B1 B2 : A2 = A B A, ternary. Scale: (E) G A B D (E) (same scale as Song 2)
(In Agbekor Song 3, since at the end only A2 returns and A1 does not return, you may also think of the overall form as rounded binary, that is, basically a two-part binary form with limited reference to the opening material at the end.)

There can actually be a 25-hour time difference between certain locations in the world. The International Date Line passes between the islands of Samoa and American Samoa. It is not a straight line, but "zig-zags" around various island chains. Therefore, Samoa and nearby islands have one date, while American Samoa and nearby islands are one day behind. Daylight saving time is used in some islands, but not in others—further shifting the hours out of sync with natural time.

For about 100 years, scientists thought that peptic ulcers were caused by stress, spicy food, and alcohol. Later, researchers added stomach acid to the list of causes and began treating ulcers with antacids. Now it is known that peptic ulcers are predominantly caused by Helicobacter pylori, a spiral-shaped bacterium that normally exist in the stomach.
