Answer to Question 1

This is frequently caused because of the lower ambient temperatures experienced in the evening. Low ambient operation of refrigeration and air conditioning compressors can result in a liquid floodback or slugging of the compressor.

Answer to Question 2

Gas passes through an orifice and the gas stream travels into the burner venturi. Primary air is sucked into the burner by the velocity of the gas. The air and gas mix in the venturi and travel into the burner. The gas air mixture comes out the burner holes where it is ignited. Secondary air is drawn in around the flames by the draft created.
