Answer to Question 1

A safety in the gear motor circuit will not allow the refrigeration system to operate unless the auger is rotating. A safety in the gear motor circuit will not allow the refrigeration system to operate if there is excessive load on the auger typically indicated by a high amperage draw.

Answer to Question 2

The advantage of manual reset is that a service technician has the opportunity to examine the cause of the problem before resetting the protective device.
