Answer to Question 1

A solenoid valve is a flow control device that stops or allows the flow of a refrigerant in a refrigeration system. When voltage is applied to the coil of a normally closed valve, it picks up the plunger and allows the flow of refrigerant through it. When voltage is no longer applied to the coil, the plunger will close due to an internal spring and system pressures.

Answer to Question 2

Measure the pressure drop across the unit and compare reading to data in instructions.
