What is the purpose of collecting system baseline performance data?

Answer to Question 1

Baseline performance data shows what the system actually does in a particular installation, providing a benchmark to real operating conditions that are specific to that unit and application. These can be used later for comparison when servicing a system.

Answer to Question 2

Older CFC and HCFC refrigerants are denser than most replacement HFC refrigerants. It does not take as much weight of the newer refrigerants to fill up the same space, so less refrigerant is required.
