An internal audit is an assessment of a company's functional areas to determine if they have adequate resources to perform their work activities and how well they perform assigned tasks.

Human resources management programs must be linked to the strategic planning process to reduce any weaknesses identified and to attract and develop the workforce needed to be able to handle successfully the challenges forecast for the future.
