Answer to Question 1

Inside the nacelle, a typical horizontal-axis wind turbines has a low-speed shaft, gearbox, high-speed shaft, and generator.

The low-speed shaft connects the blades to the gearbox

The gearbox increases the speed of the shaft to one that is more suitable for the generator.

The high-speed shaft transmits power from the gearbox to the generator.

The generator converts the mechanical spinning of the shaft to electrical power.

Answer to Question 2

Slip rings are conducting rings and brushes that allow electrical connection between the rotating nacelle and the fixed tower to transmit power from the generator. Not all wind turbines use slip rings.
