The diversion feature connects a dummy load to the generator when the charger is disconnected during the PWM on/off process.

Answer to Question 2

Tracking has the greatest effect during morning and evening hours because the optimum angle of the collector is further from the ideal case at noon. Figure 5-10 illustrates this.
