Research on the informed consent process has revealed that
 
  a. informed consent forms have become easier to understand after legal regulations were imposed.
  b. most people do not bother to read the forms; they just take them home and forget about them.
  c. researchers who perceive Institutional Review Boards to be unjust often try to deceive the review board.
  d. the research process does not really benefit from giving participants the opportunity to review the nature of studies in which they participate.

Sieber (2009) reported that a group of student researchers was told by their Institutional Review Board that they needed to inform homeless participants that they did not have to answer questions if they were uncomfortable with the questions.
 
  The student researchers objected to this restriction because they believed that
