Answer to Question 1

The fact that the Universe is both isotropic and homogeneous leads to the cosmological principle, which says that any observer in any galaxy sees the same general properties for the Universe. The cosmological principle implies there are no special places in the Universe. What you see from the Milky Way Galaxy is typical of what all intelligent creatures see from their respective home galaxies. Furthermore, the cosmological principle states, in a new form, the idea that the Universe can have no center or edge.

Answer to Question 2

A study of type Ia supernovae showed that they are about 25 percent fainter than expected. That must mean they are farther away than expected, given their redshifts. This is strong evidence that the expansion of the Universe is accelerating.
