Answer to Question 1

D

Answer to Question 2

As the protostar condenses and spins in stages 2-3, it forms a dusty disk around its equator, where planets may later be formed. When the protostar enters the T- Tauri phase it becomes much more active and develops a powerful solar wind. But its magnetic field directs this solar wind outward in the polar regions, with hot jets blowing out at high speeds perpendicular to the dusty disk. When these jets hit the cooler clouds around them, the shock wave forms the Herbig-Haro objects that can span more than a light-year across.
