If the density is less than critical, which fate of the universe awaits us?
 
  What will be an ideal response?

Question 2

The star Arcturus shows a large proper motion, almost perpendicular to the galactic plane. What Population might we assume it belongs to, and why?

Gravity cannot slow the expansion enough, and the universe will be open and expand forever.

Answer to Question 2

It might be an older Population II star, because of its comet-like motion cutting across the galactic disk.
