Discuss the extinction of the dinosaurs, relating it to an astronomical event.

  A) The combined mass of Earth and the neutron star would cause the neutron star to collapse into a black hole.

  C) The entire Earth would end up as a thin layer, about 1 cm thick, over the surface of the neutron star.

About 65 million years ago, a 20 km-wide asteroid hit near the northern end of the Yucatan peninsula, leaving a huge (now filled in) crater and devastating the entire Earth; many other species of life also became extinct as well.
