It's thick atmosphere provides another testbed for our understanding of the greenhouse effect. It's complex atmospheric chemistry produces many compounds of astrobiological interest. It's the only other world known to have a hydrologic cycle, though it is too cold for water to ever be liquid - the cycle involves methane and ethane.
