How would Ptolemy explain the rising of the Sun? Contrast this to Copernicus' explanation of the same event.

Answer to Question 1

Ptolemy would say that the celestial sphere rotated westward, carrying the Sun over our eastern horizon. Copernicus said that we, the Earth, rotate eastward once a day, and we turn to see the Sun on our eastern horizon at sunrise.
