An initially uncharged 10-mF capacitor is charged by a 10-V battery through a resistance R. The capacitor reaches a potential difference of 4 V in a period of 3 s after the charging began. Find the value of R.

Question 2

A 5000-W resistor and a 50-mF capacitor are connected in series at t = 0 with a 6-V battery. The capacitor is initially uncharged. What is the current in the circuit at t = 0? At t = 0.5 s? What is the maximum charge stored on the capacitor?

Your skin wrinkles if you stay in the bathtub a long time because the outermost layer of skin (which consists of dead keratin) swells when it absorbs water. It is tightly attached to the skin below it, so it compensates for the increased area by wrinkling. This happens to the hands and feet because they have the thickest layer of dead keratin cells.
