Answer to Question 1

This is not correct. Much freight travels by railroad, ship, and truck. Far larger
volumes and weights are carried by the other carriers.

Answer to Question 2

The idea of drive-by-wire is that the computer in the car will decide on safe
intercar distances, speeding up, and slowing down. Because the computer has inputs that tell
it the car's condition at any moment, this does allow for greater efficiency in fuel use, i.e.,
increased gas mileage (not decreased mileage).
