Cities have more pollutants in the air and therefore do have higher rates of lung
ailments than rural areas.

It is important to compare risks with other risks to see which one carries more.
This is an apples to apples, oranges to oranges comparison strategy. The creation of the
microrisk idea by Marx was an attempt to quantify different risks the same way.
Experts in risk analysis try as much as possible to make these comparisons. Table 26.2 is
such an attempt.
The assessment of risk involves art as well as science. How much is a human life worth?
