Answer to Question 1

There are extant pumped storage systems in different locations worldwide, so this
cannot be the case.

Answer to Question 2

While it is possible to include metals in the feedstock for a MSW trash-to-energy
plant, it is simpler to remove them. The heavy metals in the trash cause significant
disposal problemsthis makes the slag be classified as hazardous wasteand it is much
better if all metals are removed before incineration.
