This is true. The result depends on politics and political will. Many oil-rich
countries have seen their riches sequestered in Swiss banks by corrupt leaders. The same is
true of the diamond trade. Only when the population shares substantially in the wealth is
there a good chance that development will occur.

Hardly; it usefully applies only to what are known as linear resistors. It is always
true that V = iR, but it is only useful when R is a constant. Light bulbs are resistors, but their
voltage increases roughly as the square of the current because the heated filament is a better
conductor (poorer resistor) than a colder filament.
