Answer to Question 1

Experiment showed that the effects occurred at the poles, not at the Equator. It
was at the very low temperatures that the ozone depletion occurred because of the chemical
reactivity there.

Answer to Question 2

Isotopes have the same number of protons, and therefore the same atomic identity.
Carbon and nitrogen are not the same atom.
