A lab has a new material they must test in order to determine its nature. Which test will determine whether the substance is a conductor, insulator, or semiconductor?
1.A potential difference is applied; if the material conducts, it is a conductor.
2.A potential difference equivalent to 1 eV is applied; if the material conducts, it is a semiconductor.
3.An infinitesimal potential difference is applied to the material; if it doesn't conduct, it is an insulator.
4.A potential difference is applied to the material, beginning with a very small one and increasing to values equivalent to 5 eV. It can be identified based on when it begins to conduct.

Question 2
