As a river overflows its channel, sediment is deposited along the channel banks. What type of sediment is deposited first? What type is deposited last?

Answer: Large and heavy sediment particles are the first to be deposited since they are too heavy to remain with the water flow. Small sediment particles, able to remain in the flow, are the last to be deposited.
