It is recommended that group leaders using Gestalt Therapy techniques have thorough knowledge of the techniques being used and practiced skills because these techniques are powerful in getting members in touch with their unfinished business. As members recount past experiences, newfound awareness may be painful. Knowledge and skills are needed to help members with the intense emotions that have emerged.
