Answer to Question 1

The leader's energy will affect the group. By utilizing active listening techniques, the leader can use his or her eyes or voice to infuse energy into the group. By scanning the group and recognizing that there is a dip in energy or that members are disinterested, the leader can vary the format of the session to energize the group. By using his or her voice enthusiastically, members are more likely to listen and to increase their own interest and energy in the group.
