Answer to Question 1

1 . By observing behavior in four domains, counselors are provided with an abundance of influences that drive behavior. Thus, counselors are to view influences as being multidimensional and very inclusive. The interactions of influences suggest that all life roles can be affected by a depressive reaction, for example.
2 . Counselors may need to address depression with interventions that include work role problems and family reactions, as well as the individual client's personal needs. There can be a spillover effect to other life roles as well as the work role. When viewing the effects of behavior from a broader perspective, one can conclude that interventions can address interrelated needs of the whole person.
3 . The biopsychosocial model presents the perspective of a very complex interacting process that is most inclusive. Career and personal concerns can be tightly interwoven.
