 Parallel thinking focuses the thinking process in specific directions; critical thinking may be a component of parallel thinking, as may optimistic thinking, neutral thinking, etc.
 In groups, parallel thinking allows members to express differing perspectives without adversarial feelings. Therefore, all members can participate without risk
