  b. the student can not match his/her behavior to his/her expectations. c. the student becomes unmotivated and then overly motivated.
  d. the student enters high school and the expectations are higher.

ANSWER: Perfectionism is the thoughts and behaviors associated with very high standards or expectations for one's own performance. This can be a positive behavior and increase high productivity or it can cause the student to become failure avoidant. Answer should discuss both areas, including how students can have a depressive reaction if they do not live up to their own standards.
