Mary Kay is a paralegal assigned to work for a newly hired lawyer John Osgood. The firm has been so busy with several big cases that many of the formalities needed to get John Osgood settled and acclimated to the office and its procedures have not been done. One of the partners asked May Kay to create a personal file for John including all of his credentials to practice law. What must Mary Kay look for to accomplish this task?

Every state has enacted statutes that establish the requirements necessary to obtain a license to practice law in the jurisdiction. The general criteria for obtaining a license to practice are that the individual should be a graduate of an accredited law school; possess good moral character; and successfully pass the state bar authorizing him to practice law in that state. If he did not take the bar in his current state, has this state granted him the privilege to practice in this state under the doctrine of reciprocity?
