Answer to Question 1

Paleomagnetism is a record of Earth's magnetic field that becomes frozen in rocks. Paleomagnetism also records the reversals of the north and south magnetic poles. The declination and inclination of paleomagnetic records can also be used to reconstruct the position of plates in the past.

Answer to Question 2

Coastlines of the continents fit together like puzzle pieces, and mountain ranges and rock types match across the boundaries. Some evidence of glacial flow only makes sense when continents are put together based on tectonic evidence. Terrestrial fossil ranges span adjacent continents. More recently, paleomagnetism has been used to reconstruct plate positions and spreading center activity.
