Answer to Question 1

The increasing use of automobiles and U.S. government policies that encouraged home ownership encouraged people to move to the suburbs where they could buy relatively inexpensive housing. Smart growth policies encourage people to live in dense mixed-use neighborhoods. This allows people to live near where they work, shop, and play, and to walk or use public transportation.

Answer to Question 2

A highly globalized economy implies that the economies of the United States and Canada show a high degree of interaction with the economies of other parts of the world. Examples of this can be seen in the goods and services we use every day.
